World Oceans Day

Thank you for supporting Clean Ocean Access!

Come join Clean Ocean Access in our second annual World Oceans Day event! The celebration will take place at Easton’s Beach Rotunda and will have live music, a catered dinner and the presentation of the second “CLEAN OCEAN ACCESS MISSION2.OCEAN AWARD” to an outstanding COA volunteer. Prior to the event, there will be a clean up at Easton’s (First) Beach! The cleanup and fundraiser are both in celebration of the international World Oceans Day event and to promote COA’s mission of removing marine debris, improving ocean water quality and maintaining public access to the shoreline. See you there!

It is with great pleasure that we are able to give the second “CLEAN OCEAN ACCESS MISSION2.OCEAN AWARD” (in memory of Michael Anthony Brown, founder of Packaging 2.0 and COA supporter) to another outstanding COA volunteer. The physical award was created on a plastic brick made by the solar kiln personally delivered by 5 Gyres founder Marcus Erikson. Michael sailed on the 5 Gyres cruises with his family and friends several times and these experiences led to the creation of the solar kiln to re-purpose plastic marine debris that ends up on remote islands that lack waste management infrastructure. The idea was to turn the plastic into bricks via the power of the sun, and use the bricks to builds homes. Last year we awarded the MISSION2.OCEAN AWARD to Marty Casey, a symbol of Michael’s vision, and we are excited to award it to another amazing volunteer!
