HSHSRI Backyard Composting Workshop

The Healthy Soils, Healthy Seas Rhode Island (HSHSRI) project team will hold a backyard composting workshop for all HSHSRI participants hosted by Aquidneck Community Table at the Clean Ocean Access office on April 10th.

Residents looking to start backyard composting must sign up for HSHSRI either before or during the workshop event. Sign up online now!

The workshop aims to teach individuals the art and science of composting, different composting techniques and technologies, proper management for speedy decomposition, and the practical use of the end soil amendment. This user-friendly, hands-on workshop is meant to answer any and all questions about the composting process.

New composters signing up through HSHSRI will have a choice between two backyard composting systems and will be supplied with Stu Campbell’s, Let it Rot! The Gardner’s Guide to Composting all provided at a reduced subsidy value.

HSHSRI backyard composters also have the opportunity to get involved in valuable metrics of waste diversion from the Central Landfill. Interested participants will be supplied with a kitchen compost bin and a citizen science data collection kit.
